Housing question.

Courtnie

This isn’t really baby related but I could use some advise.

My husband and I just purchased property that we will eventually build our first home on. With the permits and well it will take at least a year to get it move in ready. We are currently renting a 2 bed 1 bath home at 900 square feet. It’s a duplex that is split with the landlord. As this house has been wonderful and we love it, we are looking to get into something a little bigger that is an actual home until our house is built. We have come across a 4 bed 2 bath house, with a fully fenced in yard for our dogs, and a big storage shop and garage. It is about 300$ more a month but is more than twice the square footage of where we are now. Both of our families live across state and since turning our guest bedroom into a nursery have no where to stay when they are here. The extra bedrooms would be so convenient. We had signed a year lease at the current duplex we are in now and it states in our lease that after a year we rent month to month. Our landlord came to us a couple months ago wanting us to sign another year lease because she is worried she won’t get a renter mid winter. We didn’t think we would find this opportunity to get into the bigger house and said we wouldn’t leave in the winter. We never signed a new lease though.

I guess I just feel bad because this bigger house would be better fitting for us but I feel bad leaving mid winter. She has been a great landlord and we do not want to put her in that situation. Any advise or suggestions on what we should do?

*sorry for the long post*
