We want to name our daughter Mia Elaine. Would it be weird to call her Lainey for a nickname?

It honestly doesn't make sense to me to change the middle name and use that as the nickname. If you want to call her Lainey, name her Lainey or Elaine as her first name. 2nd option would be use Lainey as the middle name and call her Lainey. But on paper her name will be Mia ___ or Mia E ___ so the nickname Lainey would be confusing in my opinion. I do like the name though.

Nicknames could come from anything. My nickname is Kenna but the only thing similar with my real name is it starts with Ken 🤷‍♀️ my best friend was called Gavin growing up (still is!) but his name is actually Eric! Gavin isn’t anywhere in his legal name
