Kissing newborns

I’m a first time mom so I’m sorry in advance if this is a stupid question, but I’ve heard for very legitimate reasoning that people should not kiss the baby after they are born. But what exactly does that entail?

Are we talking just about no kissing the face/hands or no kissing the top of the head or forehead either? Also, does this apply to the mother and father of the baby as well? I feel like I’m probably going to want to kiss my LO on the head or forehead...should I not be doing that?

I really just want to be safe and cautious with him being born in the middle of the winter, but obviously don’t want to go overboard and be crazy mom either. Can anyone clear this up for me?
