A little confused on Pap Smears

I posted a question expressing some concerns about HPV yesterday. Upon some research I saw a lot of different things. Even if I have a strand that doesn’t cause cancer, or warts, will it still show on a Pap smear? I saw someone say if I want to know if I have HPV I need a cervical screening and not just a PAP?
