So I’ve noticed news headlines and others are referring to women who have faced sexual assault as survivors, such as Christine Ford.

Referring to women who have faced sexual assault as survivors seems like a reach to me.

I have been sexually assaulted many times in my life, from getting groped to actually raped, but I do not consider myself as a survivor.

I was beaten and almost choked to death by an ex boyfriend, I consider myself a survivor over that, because I almost didn’t survive and had to be sent to a hospital.

I’m not trying to offend or be insensitive. I know the trauma of sexual assault is real and should be taken very seriously, having faced it first hand, but if their life wasn’t actually threatened, to call all sexually assaulted women as survivors rings wrong to me.
