Has anyone ever had their baby at 34 weeks and did not have any nicu stay?

The hospitals here require that any baby born before 35 weeks need to be on cardiac and oxygen saturation monitors until a minimum of 35 weeks so a 34 weeker would have to go to the level 2 NICU (lower level of care than the level 3/4 which is for micro prems and really sick babies) automatically. 34 workers are also more at risk for low blood sugar, feeding difficulties, apnea (when they stop breathing), poor weight gain, jaundice and temperature instability than a term baby so depending on the capabilities of the maternity ward at your hospital baby may need the extra support of NICU.

I had my son at 34 wks 5 days, no nicu stay. However I did receive the steriod shots for lung development 5 days prior to his birth.

In my personal experience my son was born at 34 weeks exactly and he did have to stay in the NICU.
