When do they check if you’re dilated? I’m 37 weeks and they haven’t yet

I waited till 40 and I’m so glad I did because I’m at a 4! She was able to do a good sweep.  If it’s earlier and you’re closed they can’t do much anyway

My doctors check every appointment starting at 35 weeks. It’s not painful. Felt just like a regular pap.

They started checking at 38 weeks for me.  It wasn’t painful at all or too uncomfortable and I got a membrane sweep today at 40+1. The sweep was definitely uncomfortable 😣 but not soo bad.

Normally 36 weeks I think but me that was at 37.

When I asked my doctor about it he said they don't like to check unless there's a reason for it.  He said checking for dilation can actually start labor some times and risk of infection. I'm 39 weeks and have no idea if I've made and progress 😖

I asked last week at my appt and I was 35 weeks and she checked me

It’s up to you and your care provider. You can decline cervix checks and some don’t do them at all or at least not until you’re full term, or overdue, or in labour.
