Strep throat?

Anyone have strep throat while pregnant? I’m in pain but always nervous to take meds that might harm baby

Letting strep throat continue is much more dangerous than treating it, even during pregnancy. The standard treatment is just Penicillin (unless you're allergic), which has a very long history and is considered safe for baby.

So I definitely recommend talking to your doctor because obviously we aren’t medical professionals, but I’ll share my experience anyway. 
I get strep throat several times a year and had it early in pregnancy. My doctor has told me that in most healthy adults, antibiotics only speed up average healing time by about 14 hours. The risk of more serious complications is significantly lower than people believe. Every time I’ve gone in and been diagnosed with strep throat, he’s given me a prescription for penicillin but strongly recommended that I didn’t fill it unless the infection lasted a week without sign of improvement. He said that complications from taking antibiotics - yeast infections, digestive tract problems, and antibiotic resistance can be worse than just letting strep run its course. I’ve never actually needed to use the prescription, and the infection was gone within 5-7 days. 
I’m not suggesting you stay home and ignore your doctor’s recommendation if they suggest otherwise, because penicillin is generally very safe and effective for you and your baby. I just wanted to share my experience with my doctor.

I had strep throat in a previous pregnancy. There is an antibiotic that is safe during pregnancy and that is what they prescribed me (although I forget which one 🙃). I didn’t have any complications with that pregnancy and baby boy was perfectly healthy! Definitely go to the doctor because i believe strep can become dangerous if left untreated!
