What is your july babies speech like?

Question

Concerned about my sons speech. Waiting to speak with HV, but wanted to see if anyone else in same position.
He can only say the following words.. Ball, bubbles, bowl, purple, Nana (banana), apple, no, go, thank you, key and sometimes mum.
He understands everything and if I say we're going out gell get his shoes, or lift my keys and go to the door etc
If he's hungry he will point into his mouth and then take me into the kitchen.
If he wants to watch his favourite program (blaze and the monster machines) he will make a car noise and point at the TV.
He will do actions to songs, knows animal noises, will point to different things when we're out walking ie car, shop, bridge, tree
Just will not actually speak!! He doesn't seem frustrated as we always know what he wants but I am getting concerned and frustrated.... Have a tone else experiend the same kinds of behavior?

My son wasnt talking. We took him to speech therapy when he was 20 months. Such a waste of time. Now he talks sentences. He says "Alexa, happy n u knowt". So darn cute. He went from 0 to all of this in 45 days. So no, dont worry until he is 3. And that's a lot of works because all my son said until last month was bubye.

I do social services for preschool kids, you might make sure their hearing is good! I've seen NUMEROUS cases of kids that don't talk having hearing problems, etc. They get tubes and voila! We cant get them to stop now 😁

Our beautiful girl has been carrying on FULL ADULT CONVERSATIONS for months now. She amazes me DAILY. Super smart. 🤩 I'm a HUGE talker, so I'm sure she gets it from me. 😏

My son is 2.5 and we are currently in Speech Therapy & occupational therapy bc like for child he communicates in other ways.  He grabs my hand to pull me or will put an empty sippy in my lap.  We had his hearing,  adenoids and tonsils checked.  
Some kids,  lots of times boys,  are slow to talk.  🤷‍♀️ my boy is bright,  regardless.  Don't let everyone work you up,  they all go at their own pace.

I think its typical. I mean anything else cant hurt in my opinion, if itll put your worries at ease. Girls tend to advance faster than boys in my experience. Most  2yr olds i know talk just as much if not a little more than mine. My son says some sentences, if he wants food he will say " I hungey" or "I eat". He can string multiple words along like "what you doing?" "How ah you?", "i go nuh nite". But i think he may be copying things he hears me say, or he probably listens to my parents and siblings talking (we are staying with them for now). I think its typical but see what they say 😊

Idk if they are considered baby or adult conversations but we do get 3/4 word phrases and questions. “What are you doing?” “Bye, see you later.” “Let me help you.” Shes not in daycare or anything but she is around lots of family who are young, a social environment I guess. I hope this helps.

I think if your son understands everything, you don’t need to worry. Speech therapy will probably help but at least you know he is cognitively just fine!

I’m planning on getting our son evaluated too. He talks and knows words, but half the time I have no clue what he’s saying. He has a hard time pronouncing.

My son is speech delayed. He only says a couple things yeah yeah yeah, oh boy, and dada. We’ve been in speech therapy for about 6 months now.  When we started he was completely non verbal.  Our problem is he has a hearing issue so we know the majority of his delay is related to that.

I had some concerns about my daughter's speech and mentioned it to the HV at her 27mth check and they have referred us to speech therapy.
She knows all her words but doesn't pronounce the first syllable.
Although she started preschool in September and her speech is improving every day.
I hope your HV can refer you too.
