Pumping at work?

Can someone explain how pumping at work works? I hate to admit it but I’m too embarrassed to ask someone at work, being that I work with mostly men and I just started at my job a few months ago. I know my job has a lactation room but I’m just wondering what all I need to bring and how everything will be stored. Do they supply a pump or do I need to bring my own? Where is everything stored? How many times a day do you have to set aside to pump?

Just bring your own pumping supplies. Store it in a lunchbox in a fridge at your workplace. It’s amazing your workplace even has a Lactation room. Mine offers no such thing, and I’ll be left pumping in a bathroom stall. I work at a public school. Definitely do not be embarrassed or ashamed. It’s a very normal thing!

I never officially told anyone I was going on break to pump. They all figured it out but no one ever said anything. My HR manager knew.  My pump came with a little insulated zipper lunch box like thing and an Ice pack. That always kept my milk cold until I got home and could put it in the fridge. Don’t use anyone else’s pump or equipment. It’s best to have your own.

I bought a big bag like a tote bag and carried all my stuff in it. Take your pump, clean bottles with lids (or bags which ever you choose) and I used my daughters lunch box with an ice pack to keep the milk in 😂. Also pack some granola bars or other snacks to enjoy while you're there. Also hand sanitizer is a must! Try to rinse your pump parts between uses if if you cant it's ok just dry it out.
