You definitely need to make your dentist aware as they might have to use other products for the procedure.

I work at a dental office and we need documents from your OB stating you are cleared for any treatment including xrays.

How far along are you? At my first appointment I got a note for the dentist advising that I was being cared for by that office and what they could and could not do. 
I thought it was standard for offices to do that, because I didn’t ask for it and they didn’t ask when my next dentist appointment was.

Yes. Just make sure to remind them that you are pregnant so they know the proper medications and anesthetics to use for you during the procedure.
