Husband refuses to brush his teeth 😩

Oml.. so yes he doesn’t brush AND he’s a smoker..it’s so bad that even when his mouth is closed u can still smell his breath. We don’t kiss because of it and it’s been like this for years. It’s horrible. I tried talking to him about it multiple times and all he says is the bristles of his toothbrush is too hard so I’d go out and buy the softest one I could find..still nothing. I’m at the point where I’m completely turned off...I don’t know what to do, any advice?
