Can’t hear my baby crying when I’m sleep

Today was the second time my baby was in his bassinet next to my bed crying and I did not hear him. My mom over heard him both times and came into my room and got him until it was time for him to eat. He’s 1month old and I’m freaking out and don’t know what to do to stop this from happening. I mean he literally sleeps in his bassinet that’s right in front of my face touching my bed. But I didn’t hear him crying at all. I really feel like shit because he’s suppose to be able to count on me at any moment and I can’t even hear his crud while I’m sleeping.
