When to know to move forward

I’ve been with my man eight years. He wants to marry me someday. But he’s not ready yet. I am. I’m starting to really resent him for not asking. When do you know to walk away. Or did you stick it out and it got better? I need help ! I’ve tried tAlking to him. It doesn’t do anything. He’s not ready and honestly who knows if he ever will be.

Honestly 8 years is a long time to be with someone and they not ask or be ready to marry. He honestly may never be ready. I understand your resentment. Though I will say that it could have to do with something like finances or age that makes him not want to marry yet. Try to talk to him again. See if you can at least find out why he isn’t ready. It’s easier to understand the whole thing if you can at least know his point of view. He might have a valid reason. But you also have to do what is best for you too. If his reason isn’t something you can live with, it might be time to walk away.

I had been with a guy for 6 years. I stuck with him because I loved him and thought we were soulmates. ( He was my high school sweetheart, my first everything) He was a major douche bag. He would never hold my hand, barely kissed me, we barely were intimate and I was always the one that initiated it. He said, “I love you” out of habit. He never proposed to me. Not even a promise ring. 
This might sound bad, but I cheated on him with another man( not telling you to do this) and that’s when I finally realized I wasn’t meant to be with him. The other guy and I just vibed so well with each other. I fell head over heels for the man and now we have a daughter. I don’t regret anything. Only that I wasted 6 years with a man that didn’t appreciate me or love me.
In my honest opinion if he doesn’t see you as a potential wife or hasn’t even progressed in the relationship... I’d dipped out. I spent so long unhappy. If you are unhappy.. talk to him. Lay it all out. If nothing changes.. girl go out and find that happiness!! You only live one life.
