Is anyone get the progesterone shot ? Plz share your experience

I took the makena shots (progesterone injections) in the thigh once a week when I was pregnant with my 2nd. I was high risk for preterm labor because my first was born at 29 weeks. My 2nd ended up being born at 29 weeks also even tho I was taking the shots, but thinking she could have come earlier if I hadnt taken them? I will be starting them again at 16 wks with this pregnancy as well. 
Pain wise it wasn't bad, it felt like a shot, but not too bad. I had to get my mom to inject them tho because I couldn't do it myself lol. I didnt notice any side effects. Hope this helps?

I’m going through IVf and this is my second pregnancy as the first ended in miscarriage. But yes I have been on this shot two different times for 3 months every night miscarried and then started back on it again November 23rd. I’m on Progesterone sesame oil in-muscular injections in the lowers back butt area.
