DNA RESULTS SECRET

My Husband just learned that his Dad is not his biological father. We bought DNA Ancestry kits and started some ish!

His Mom freaked out when she saw his results online. His family is big on researching their family tree. They have a FB group dedicated to their research with several senior members managing it. His Mom is one of the family tree researchers. She called him immediately when she saw his results online. She was in a panic and asked him to remove his results and said her Husband/His Dad would kill her 😳

His Mom and Dad are both Black. My Husband does not look like either side of his family and we all just figured that his looks are from a White ancestor somewhere down the line. My Husband has dirty brown hair, blonde hair on his arms and legs. He also has green eyes. His family has always joked around with him that he’s adopted etc.; Turns out his Mom had an affair.

My Husband had an overwhelming amount of White British folks coming up on his DNA results as family members which we thought initially, ok that explains his look but his Dad never came up as a match 🤔

So we are expecting a baby I initially felt like I don’t want to perpetuate a lie and I wanted to be honest with my son about his cultural background but I decided that as a mixed race person myself I can just explain to my son that our family is multiracial and bi cultural. 🌈

***Edit: I don’t intend to tell my FIL at all. My Husband is not going to say anything. He loves his Dad. We all do. My Husband is content with knowing his Biological’s name and race because it’s answered a lot of questions for him. ***

Someday after my FIL passes away we’ll tell him the truth. Thoughts? Is this fair to my son while respecting my MIL’s wishes and protecting her marriage? My FIL is a really good man and in his 70s. Something like this would break his heart not to mention marriage.
