First Month on Femara/Letrozole Painful Ovulation

Erin • Married 💏💍 🐶🐶🐾 2 Fur Babies. 👶Due March 2020!

Hi All,

A little bit about me and my husbands struggle TTC, we have been trying since May 2017. Blood Tests were okay for me, Sperm analysis came back good, HSG good.

I have never fallen pregnant... but I ovulate like clockwork every month, 27 day cycle and ovulate day 12/13.

This month I used 2.5mg of Femara on days 2-6, (due to the holidays he couldn't fit me in for a scan so it's just the Femara this month).

I am now CD 14 and I am experience a fair bit of discomfort, its mainly concentrated on my left side. As I ovulate monthly I have had ovulation pains before but not like this... I feel sore, bloated and heavy. My hips are also quite sore.

Did anyone else experience this when using Femara?... the pains feel similar to what I get around AF but way to early for that.

Thanks!! HNY

YES! Exact same situation as you. We started TTC in March 2017. No issues on either side fertility wise - I also have 28 day cycles and typically ovulate on CD 14. We went to a fertility clinic and I was put on Clomid 50mg for 4 cycles. I only ever experienced discomfort during my fertile window - major bloating, cramps, feeling gross. We did IUI twice and I got pregnant the second time but miscarried - this was in September 2018. We are just trying naturally for the time being but I'm thinking of going back on medication - maybe Femara this time around because of the side effects I had with Clomid.

That's a tough situation. They didn't say anything about egg quantity. I just turned 29. My doctor said it was a good sign that I did get pregnant and that I shouldn't stress because it would happen. She said she'd be pushing for fertility treatment a lot more if I was in my late 30's vs. now. But, my hubby and I have had all the testing done - it just looks like unexplained infertility. We also don't BD as much as we would like so we're working on that. If I do go back on medication we don't really want to do IUI again. It's kind of pricey.

Have the doctors given any idea why you guys might be having trouble? Only thing my doctor said it might be is the quantity of my eggs... I'm 27 but apparently my eggs are the same as someone who may be in their late 30s... fingers crossed for you to fall pregnant. Maybe Femara will work based on some of the feedback I have seen on this App a few ppl prefer Femara over Clomid...

Yes my first month on it I had really painful ovulation. That’s also the month I got a BFP, but it turned out to be a chemical.

I just finished my first month of Femara. I did t get ovulation pain like i did with clomid, but my period was quite painful. I will admit the side effects were far less when i used Femara.
