Having your due date pushed back?

I have just seen a post and a woman mentioned she had her 38 week appt today after having her due date pushed back last week. 
I’m confused and didn’t want to sound stupid by asking (hence the anon post), but what does she mean having her due date pushed back?! Why do doctors and midwives do this?!

Im on my 3rd child and this has never happened to me and it has never happened to anyone I know. 
This seems unusual that they would change a due date so late in the game. In my experience, the only time a due date is changed is in the beginning with a dating scan if it’s different than the LMP.

I think it’s if baby measure smaller

Usually if baby is measuring a lot smaller, they will push your due date back.
