Strip membranes at 37 weeks?

My doctor plans to strip my membranes today (36w5d)
I guess it’s part of their normal process. Should I tell him not to?

Depends on how you feel about it, I had mine done at my 36+4 appointment, but that's partly cause he was down there anyway and this is baby 3 so they tend to come earlier and it would really help me for baby to come before my oldest is back to school. If it's your first it doesnt seem like theres much point doing it so early cause it's not going to get things moving unless your body and baby are ready. 37 weeks seems early for a FTM to get a sweep, they didnt offer with my first till I was 39 weeks(got 2 done and she was still 10 days late) it may just be unnecessary discomfort for you 🤷‍♀️

Yeah you can. Baby won’t come unless they are ready. I had mine done at 37 weeks and didn’t work. Doing it again next week

What is the point? If it's too early, it won't have any effect anyway, and it's often painful or at least uncomfortable.

My midwife won’t do a sweep until after 39 weeks! So why is he or she trying to do one now if you haven’t even made it to official “full term”
