Labor and delivery gown?

I did not even think about this with my first, he was born at 31 weeks and I didn’t even have a hospital bag ready. But several people have mentioned them to me now and at 34 weeks I am seriously considering one. Thoughts? Does it help make you more comfortable or just a waste?

Honestly wear their gown for delivery there is so much sweat, pee, fluid, poop, sometimes vomit .... as soon as I deliver (I go med free) I’m in the shower within an hour to get cleaned up from the ordeal lol I still wear theirs once in my room as well due to the bleeding and chance of bleeding through onto it ... I don’t want to ruin my things lol

I haven’t delivered my first yet, but I can say from working in a hospital that they’ll have absolutely everything you’ll need. They frequently get patients who didn’t have time to pack anything. The downside is much of that stuff like the gowns, toiletries, and stuff are cheap. You’d be more comfortable using your own. But hey, their stuff is free and you don’t have to worry about picking it all up when you leave.

I bought a super cheap cotton nightgown that I didn’t mind throwing out when I was done. But it was so much softer and more cozy than a hospital gown.

I would never use my own gown during actual labor and delivery. To be honest, having a hard time remembering if my hospital gown was actually on by the time I delivered. Probably was, but I do remember the nurse covering me up when I flipped over to rock on my hands and knees between 9 and 10cm (which I thought was pretty good considering I had an epidural running), then flipped back over to my back to push. And my girl peed and pooped all over me on the way out, so I was a huge mess. Afterwards I actually prefer wearing yoga pants, holds that horrible mesh underwear and huge pads on better so I don’t feel like I’m free bleeding everywhere.

I stayed in a hospital gown the entire time.  I was so gross after, I didn’t want to ruin my things.

I think it’s just going to get so gross in the delivery process. However, I am planning on getting a pretty robe or gown for after the baby is born and I get cleaned up.
