Yesterday at 3 am when i couldn't sleep i thought why our pregnancies is 40w. If 9months x 4 w =36w ....10x4=40 what do you think???

So what I was thinking if a month is an approximation of 4w by 9 months is 36w and I know that a lot of countries consider that a full term at 36w or 37 w... But we go to 40 🤷 have you ever think about this?
PS: I will ask today in the afternoon to my doctor it make me really curious hahahaha 😂

The first two weeks between last period and ovulation are week 1 and 2 but you aren’t actually pregnant. They are “bonus” weeks. 
The other two weeks come from there being 28 days in 4 weeks but 30-31 days in most months so over three or four months you catch up an extra week with those extra days. So over 8-10 months you’ll catch up two extra weeks of extra days.

40 weeks is not 10 months. It would be if months had 28 days 7x4=28. But months have 30 or 31 days. Those extra days add up to where 40 weeks is 9 months, not 10.

It’s about 10 months from when you get your last period. But you don’t ovulate til about 2 weeks after that, then it could take up to a week for implantation/it to show up on a test. So 9 months of actually being/knowing you’re pregnant.

There are 30 or 31 days every month (besides February). There are 7 days in a week. Math makes it more than 4 weeks per month.

I was told that full term was considered anywhere from 37 - 40 weeks. So I guess if you had Bub at 37 weeks this would be 9 months

From my understanding,  doctors start the count the first day of your last period. So you aren't technically pregnant the first few weeks, then some months have more then the typical 28days? So add the extra time in there.
 
Not sure if that's totally true, but that's how it was explained to me lol I always go off and measure by saying "I'm x weeks pregnant".

I think from when the egg and sperm meet it is 9 months, but because we count the time before the egg is fertilized it ends up being longer.....  the ten months is from when the egg is released from the ovary to the moment baby is born.
