Anyone else worried about being able to breastfeed??

I have been planning to breastfeed the entire pregnancy! Now that I am 38 weeks and having my c section in 10 days, I’m worrying about being able to provide for baby! Is this irrational? Obviously, I’m a first time mom 😅🤷🏼‍♀️

You can do it! It’s challenging at first. Talk to all the lactation support you can while in the hospital, make sure the latch is deep! This is so important to help avoid cracking and blistering. Nipple cream! I love the boob-ease kind that’s lanolin free. Trust your self and your supply, nurse on demand. The main reason women stop nursing is because they feel they’re not making enough. You are. If you’re babe is making enough wet/dirty diapers you’re making enough milk!

Read read read on it. It’s super rare to not actually make enough milk- most women either aren’t educated or don’t have the support if they say they didn’t make enough milk. The more you know about it the more confident you will be in yourself. You can do it!!

Breastfeeding is SO hard at first. It is the most stressful part of having a newborn. You can do it!!! Just be prepared for challenges. Ask to see a lactation consultant in the hospital. Find a local breastfeeding support group.

My birth team has shared with me that it’s only about 3% of women who medically can’t produce enough milk. Try not to stress! There’s a group on Facebook called something like The Cleavage Club and it has been sooooo helpful ♥️ I exclusively pumped for my son for 13 months because we struggled with a bad latch, undiagnosed lip ties and DMER. Now, I feel empowered and am hoping for a better breastfeeding experience that maybe I won’t hate 😬🤞🏼

Going in for my second c section  next week. I am so excited and yet terrified I wont be able to breastfeed. I only eas able to breastfeed my daughter for 3 months. Looking back I feel like I was pressured into supplementing as soon as she was born, the hospital was not supportive  or helpful in regards to teaching or encouraging  me. I was scared into believing  my baby was starving. Then the month afterqe had her we moved into my MIL house with them while our house sold. I felt a little pressured there to formula feed because that's what she did and I didnt feel comfortable  breastfeeding in their house, even in out room with the door closed. I was so paranoid. Which is totally dumb. This time around I have read tons, made a pinterest board and made friends who are also breastfeeding. I have this whole plan in my head but I am scared to death I will still fail.

Completely normal to feel this way. I was only able to breast feed my 1st for 3 weeks before I dried up. (I was later diagnosed with PCOS, which I feel like played a big role in this) I was a FTM and I beat myself up about it, I literally had a meltdown because I thought I was a terrible mom for not making enough milk. Let me tell you from experience, DO NOT BE HARD ON YOURSELF IF THIS IS WHAT YOU EXPERIENCE. Breast feeding is not the only way to nourish your child. I will be attempting to breast feed my newest arrival this time, but if I’m not able to, then the store is right down the road. So good luck momma!!! Pinterest has a lot of great tips as well!!

You will be fine! My friend had a csection AND inverted nipples and never gave up even though her supply was low at first. People were trying to get her to quit but she didn’t and knew her body would eventually react. She ended up breastfeeding over a year ! ❤️❤️ I breastfed for 13 months as well but it was easy for me. While pregnant I was sooooo scared and this time I’m also nervous again lol. Im hoping it goes as smooth as with my son

Same and I am a second time mom. I BF my first for 4 months but had to supplement with formula the entire time because my supply was low and he was a big baby. Hoping this time is different, I feel much more confident and I have researched much more but you still never know!

Same here, first time mom also and I’m always praying I make enough colostrum and milk when baby is born.

It’s a very normal concern and it can be very challenging. I have ended up needing to use nipple shields with both my first babies because of problems. But honestly just be patient and let your body do what it was made to do!
