Can I paint the nursery if I put on a breathing mask?!

All sources seem to disagree. I mean it is a small room but I cant really open the window at -15 degrees outside. My hubby bought me a mask specially made for paint odor. Is it ok if I make sure to take a break every once on a while? Did you ladies participated in the painting part?

I painted the nursery with my husband at 10 weeks and just opened the window, didn't wear a mask. I also helped paint my sister in laws living room at like 8 weeks. My baby is doing just fine. The only paint you really need to be worried about is oil based and most household paints are water (latex) based so they dont give off toxic fumes.

I painted living room, dining room kitchen and master bedroom. I waited until it’s warm, sunny day, opened windows in all rooms and turned fans on. No mask. Used Bear paint and a Wagner SideKick automatic roller. Doctor said it’s okay as long as you are not doing it for a living.

I wouldn't unless it's a resperator mask. My husband and his step dad just painted our baby room.  It stunk really bad and the paint was from lowes. 
 Those paper masks are pretty useless.  My dad use to do partical sizing and he said 90% of stuff went right through it.

I've done lots of painting while pregnant. I use a specialized respirator tho. You'll begin to feel nauseous from fumes if anything before you would harm your baby. But honestly, if it's an option have someone else paint.

I wore a mask took frequent breaks, I talked to my doctor before I did any kind of painting she said as long as I wore a mask an took breaks it was all ok. My bf an his grandfather did 95% of the painting I did the base boards of the room I wasn’t around paint for very long an plus here in my state we were able to have the window open even though I was cold it helped the odor
