Trying to avoid an epidural? Buy a TENS

Autumn • Mommy to Harrison 🥰💛

My birthing coach recommended getting a TENS and using it during contractions. She is from Europe and it is something they use often. Said she used up until she was 6cm and it was a life saver! I got one from Target and it was cheap! Hoping it helps me get through the contractions 🤞🏼 Just wanted to share because I never heard of it beforehand!

“TENS is a drug-free kind of pain relief often used by women in early labour. TENS stands for Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation.”

“TENS works by sending electrical nerve stimulation through these electrodes; it doesn't take away the sensation of contractions, but essentially interrupts the pain signals your brain is receiving, possibly reducing your awareness of them or producing endorphins that allow you to cope better.”
