How do I get help if I was raped? I don’t want to ruin the guys life but what he did really scared me and will scar me for life. I don’t really feel comfortable talking about it in person to people and he’s telling lies about what happened to everyone. How should I handle this?

Hey, hun. I know how scared and alone you must feel right now. And if you can, I’d search for a therapist. If you’re under 18, maybe sit down and tell your parents you’d think it’d be beneficial to see one. You can be as vague or specific as you prefer to be with them. And even if you don’t want to discuss exactly what has happened with the therapist just yet, it can feel good to talk to someone impartial about your life and someone you know cares and will work with you to help you become your best self. It can take time to trust a therapist and you may be in a position of not feeling comfortable to speak about it with them until later, but knowing you have someone on your side can do wonders for your mental health. Also, if you really need to vent and don’t feel like you can with anyone now, you could call(or chat in the online chat room) the national sexual assault hotline and they might be able to help. I know for the chat specifically, it can be a couple hours sometimes until a volunteer is able to chat with you, but it’s well worth your wait once your able to talk.
