My very best friend told me a couple years ago that they were non-binary. I respected them and used their pronouns! Recently though they told me they didnt think they were non-binary anymore.

I assumed that meant that it was okay to using she/her pronouns(thier birth gender). Today I said something about being a wahmen(pewdiepie reference) and they said "well Im a woman too.".

Im scared to ask because I dont want to hurt them. I care about them so much and I have seen/heard about how much it hurts to be misgendered. Please help me. Im cishet and try my hardest to make my friends in the LGBTQ+ community feel loved and understood. But I dont experience everything they do, so Im trying my best to become educated in order to make them feel comfortable.
