2 1/2 yo toddler (co sleeps) and also due in feb...too late to transition?

Baby is due next month and my toddler still sleeps in our room...mostly on his crib next to my side of bed but sometimes he’ll come into bed with us in the night or early morning...is it too late for me to try and gently transition him to another room...? The thought of him sleeping all alone makes me so sad but maybe it’s a good idea for him to learn to sleep alone now...?but is now a good time? Has anyone transitioned their toddler close to due date?

I dunno how this is all gonna work out im getting kinda stressed thinking about it 😫
