FET.. what to expect on transfer day?

Hi all! My transfer day is set for 1/31.  I’ve already started stims back on January 4th.  Can someone tell me what to expect the day of the transfer? Are you awake? Is your husband in the room? Is it painful? Did you go back to work the next day?  TIA! ♥️

Hey! For us she told me to empty my bladder and hour before the scheduled time then drink 16-20 ounces of water because you want a moderately full bladder. You arrive 30 minutes before your time but they didn’t take us until about 15 minutes before (I think they want you there so they know to really start the thaw because I think it’s a quick process). Then you go back get on little booties (although I’ve seen people dressed all in hospital stuff.  We just had booties). We went to a room and nurse told us after care (which is just take it easy for 2-3 days. No heavy lifting/intense exercising. Then doctor came in. On a screen they showed us my name and a picture of our embryo but it was actually a real image from the back room that they zoomed into from the microscope. They confirmed I was the right person like 5 times which is good. Then they put the regular metal clamps in like before a Pap smear. They put a sonogram on your stomach to see. They they feed a little catheter and you can watch the whole time. Then they put the embryo through it somehow and you see it flash on the screen (or everyone else sees and you look at the wrong spot 😅). But they played our transfer video on a loop! Then they take everything out and go check the catheter to make sure the embryo actually came out. You lay there for 5 minutes. Then you are supposed to pee. The worst part was how badly I had to pee even before the procedure! I have a small bladder so it was a lot of water for me and I felt like I was going to pee on the doctor especially with them pushing. He said a lot of people say that though and I think it was good my bladder was full. I guess you can see it better! Then you leave and the awful wait begins... sorry that’s so long! I’ve only had it done once but it didn’t hurt to me! I can’t wait to hear how yours goes!

They will ask you to have a full bladder when you go back. It will feel like a pap. Super fast and not painful. Hubby should be able to come with you! They use a long tube/ syringe type thing to insert the embryo. You can walk right out of the clinic right away.

you will gown up along with ur partner. Go into a little room with a hatch door. Speculum goes in just like a smear test. If ur clinic uses guided intra sound (some dont u will know coz they will tell u to have a semi full bladder if they do) a nurse will press a thing on it tummy while the embryolgist puts the embryo in a catheter and then the Dr will insert this into ur uterus. They will show u it going in on the little screen. I asked who's uterus on the screen it was because I didn't feel ANYTHING! I didn't know they had started! I was in there like 5mins they shook my hands let me dress and have a much needed wee! Told me to keep active but take it easy and I'm 9weeks pregnant today! (this was my 2nd round 1st clinic just felt there way in no ultrasound and that was a little incomfy and it didn't work out) I think ultra sound guidnece is definetly worht it! Transfer is a lovely day, try relax and enjoy it because it's nothing to worry about at all. Massive good luck to you it's an exciting time! xxxx
