Maternity leave or resignation?
Hey ladies, I'm due July 2nd and recently have been looking into my options with my husband on what will happen when baby is here. Currently we looked in daycare but in our town it is limited and would cost everything I currently make so my husband prefers I just be a stay at home mom for a year or 2 and then we see what we can do.
I do like my job and staying on wouldn't be the worst but they have already told me I can only be on leave for 6 weeks and then they need me back. I expressed that I may not be able to afford childcare and have to think about what I'm gonna do but they just said find a family member. Problem is I don't have family locally to help out they all work full time or are disabled.
Lately they have been pushy for me to stay and keep stating that even if my entire paycheck goes into daycare It'll be worth the time I invest with the company. But they have no plans on giving me a raise, 2 people recently retired and we had to take on their workload since they didn't want to pay to rehire anyone else to cover that branch. So now I'm doing extra work and they keep pushing more but don't want to have to pay more I've asked and now I have so many questions....
What about the time I need to invest with my child?
Is 6 weeks enough?
Is it worth it to leave and struggle with finances but get to stay home everyday?
I just feel like I can't see what I need to do but feel crappy to think I'd be going to work so every penny goes to pay for someone else to watch my kid when it can be me but I also don't wanna feel like a quitter.
