Baby shower for second? For 1 big purchase

My sister-in-law asked if I was going to have a baby shower. I said no because we don’t really need anything since we just had a boy who’s 14 months old and are due with another boy. 
My husband reminded me that we do need a double stroller (but that’s really it other than diapers and wipes).
If we didn’t throw a shower what is the most appropriate way to ask our family for help with buying the stroller? Should I just plan a small shower?

Personally I wouldn't throw another shower for gifts for the second boy because I would have saved everything from my first baby especially kids that close together. I wouldn't ask my family to buy me a stroller either because it's our responsibility to buy that kind of stuff. So if they buy it for you that's great but I wouldn't ask for it.

Tbh I think it’s kind of trashy to ask family and friend to pay for a stroller for a second child you decided to have. No offense if you can’t afford it you probably don’t need it either. This sounds like a want not a need

I could be wrong, but I believe if you make a registry on Amazon (just put diapers and wipes and the stroller you want) there's a "split pay" option so multiple people can buy the more expensive items without breaking bank. I'd do a small get together with like a diaper raffle and then tell the family that you have the items you need on Amazon and see what happens.

We are doing a sprinkle not a shower with just my aunts and grandmas mom etc. We will have a 3 yo when this baby comes and we aren't finding out gender so there is stuff we need. Just dont go overboard inviting ppl

Yes have a shower because every baby deserves to be celebrated. If they get you things you don’t “really need” save it as back up or pass it on or return it for something you do need.  I’d stick with talking to close family about help with the stroller but definitely celebrate that baby! Congratulations girl

I had a sip and see after my second baby was born. It was a great alternative. We got some sweet gifts and diapers. Lots of family gave us cash and gift cards at the sip and see or even before the birth. We were able to buy a stroller when we needed one with cash we got.

There’s no rules to having a baby shower ! Do what you think is best for you and your husband!

I’m in the exact same boat. We need a double stroller for the two babes (my LO is 15mo right now) & they’re so expensive, I want help paying for it. 
If family asks, maybe you can just suggest gift cards to Buy Buy Baby or wherever it is you’re planning on getting your stroller, to have them help with the cost? I’m hoping that my family asks, so I can say that haha.

I would just have a BBQ and ask people to bring signed books instead of cards and/or diapers, and ask that if they’d like, they can make a small donation toward your double stroller. I think showers are mostly to celebrate your little one.
