Considering nexplanon(?) implant - stories?

Question

I take the pill currently but am not as consistent as I’d like to be. I’m considering the arm implant which lasts 3 years. Can anybody share about their experience with the implant procedure? And periods after its in place? Any pros/cons about getting this instead of an IUD? I’ve heard IUDs are painful so I’d prefer the implant - but am I missing something? Gonna read the pamphlets my doc gave me too. Just curious about others’ experiences.

I had mine for less than a year. Couldnt feel it at all when it was inserted, getting it removed was a bit of a hassle though! Your muscles will grow around the implant so when you get it removed it will sometimes require more time and a stitch (like it did for me.) The only major side effect to consider is it’s really common to have irregular bleeding on it. It’s really annoying when it feels like your period never ends!

Had mine nearly 3 years just had it removed last week were planning to have another baby if I do decide to get back on bc I'll definitely go back to the implant had zero problems

They give you a local anaesthetic before they inject it into your arm then they bandage you up. You keep the bandage on at least 24hours to prevent bad bruising. My friend had hers done the same day as mine, she took her bandage off and her arm bruised up whereas mine wasn’t half as bad just a little bruise were the implant is.

The implant was simple the only part of the procedure that will hurt is when they are numbing your arm it will stink for a while but after that you should be good and don’t get your dressing wet for 24 hours.
