Does newborn get enough to eat?

Im a STM. But I have some questions..when my son was born, I tried BF but he couldn’t latch so they had me start pumping in the hospital and between both breasts I wasn’t even making a ml. Sooo if I wouldn’t have used the formula that the hospital provided, how would my son have had enough to eat? I plan on trying to BF again this time around but I’m worried about milk not coming in

Babies tummies are so very small they don’t need much at all the first few days. 
Your colostrum will be plenty. Don’t use formula unless you have to for sugar issues. The more baby latches  the more baby will get and the faster your milk will come in.

Baby’s dontneed much the first couple days until your milk comes in. Keep putting baby in your breast it’ll make your milk come faster. With my son I didn’t have much knowledge and I put him on like every 3 hours totally missed his cluster feedings and it took 4 days for my milk to come. With my daughter I put her on like every hour to every 15-30 min cuz she was cluster feeding and my milk came on day 2 when we got discharged. I’m having such a better experience this time. As long as your releasing milk from your breasts they will continue producing!
