Where I live we have a similar program but it’s not entirely mandatory. The public health nurse comes to the hospital and visit with mom and baby. They ask questions about the father and often request to speak to the father. They ask where baby is sleeping, check car seats etc. Then they follow up with a home visit or phone calls. They came to my house bcs I’m a first time mom and spent an hour with me answering questions about breastfeeding, my own emotional health, diapers, etc. It was fantastic for me. But this is not mandatory. Do you think it should be?
