Gestational diabetes anyone else?

Question

Recently i was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. I was just curious to hear anyone elses stories that have had it. 
How did it affect your pregnancies? 
Today was my first day taking my blood sugar and according to what i have read it was well within normal range. I started eating low carb today and tried to abide by the grams that my doctor told me was ok. I see a nurse for diet counseling on Wed this week so then i will know more.

Yeah I have my equipment and all but my diabetic consulting isn’t until Tuesday but I have lowered my carb intake and watching about surgery stuff which I’m not a big sugar fan anyways. I’m just hoping this will help my baby out as he is almost two pounds heavier then he should be and that concerns me.

I cannotget my fasting below 90 so I’m asking for insulin at my next appointment. I want baby to have perfect lungs. My 2 hr post meal average is 106 so it’s just my fasting that’s holding me up. The diet part isn’t so bad and finger pricks are easy

i also was just diagnosed. at first i was so upset & sad because my diet has been really good & i’ve only put on 10 lbs. but, my midwife reassured me that the science goes deeper than that & it has to do with the placenta. my pharmacy is taking forever to get my lancets, so i’ve been just playing it “safe” with low carb & spacing out my eating every two hours. my midwife said as long as we can manage my #s through diet, i have no more risk of complications than a regular pregnancy.

I had it with my first pregnancy and majority for me it was controlled by a strict low carb diet which by the time I had my son I lost about 14 pounds by the time I had him. I had to go on metformin because they didn’t like my fasting numbers were 98 and not below 90 so being on meds meant I had to have weekly ultrasounds to make sure he was doing practice breathing. They estimated him to be 9 pounds 13 ounces he came out at  9 pounds 8 ounces and had no issue or signs I had gd he was also almost 22 inches long and at 2.5 years old he’s really tall for his age. They induced me three days before my due date so I could have a vaginal but my labor stalled so ended up with a emergency csection but overall he was healthy and I went back to normal after delivering my placenta and could eat anything I wanted. It’s rough but it’s for the best for you and baby! I’m waiting for my three hour glucose test results to see if I have it again this pregnancy.

I’ve had it since 15 weeks. All diet controlled. I currently weigh a stone less than when I fell pregnant. No real impact apart from extra scan and consultant led care.
