I was exactly 38 weeks pregnant and After about 24hrs of irregular contractions, I woke up around 6 am Sunday the 20th
o two small gushes of fluid. Because I did have to go to the bathroom (and tried to ignore it), I wasn’t sure if my it was my water or urine. I sat in the bathroom for a while and nothing else seemed to be happening so I went back to bed for a bit. An hour later I started getting myself and my daughters ready for church. During that process I stopped at the bathroom again and felt a plop I assumed was my plug in the toilet...but I couldn’t confirm it. I kept moving forward while preparing overnight bags “just in case”. I began feeling strong contractions yet they were slightly irregular so I kept moving forward. With my husband we managed to get to the church and right when I walked in I felt a sizeabke fish of warm fluid. I told my husband that I think my water is breaking and went to the bathroom. Sitting there again, nothing much was happening, so I kept timing contractions and moving forward. They began to become 3min apart and gaining strength. I finally told him it was time but we had to go back home and get the bags lol. My water kept leaking by gushes to the house and to the hospital. Arriving st the hospital I stood up to the water running down my leg. I was taken to labor and delivery by a very kind security guard while my husband parked the car. We just moved to Reno so I didn’t have a doctor, but I brought a large stack of paperwork from my previous OB (up to 36 weeks). They quickly took me to room and the nurse asked me to guess how far along I thought I was. I guessed 3-4cm. She checked me and said I was at 8!!!! I really wanted an epidural and thought I wouldn’t have time to get one. But the staff at the hospital was AWESOME! And got me one quite quickly. Though I couldn’t feel the contractions I could still feel the pressure, so she told me I could decide when to push as by then I was already st 10. My friends and husband relaxed a bit and I decided...might as well get it over with. 3 pushed later, Christian Emeka Jr. was born weighing 6lbs and 9oz after only 1 hour and 40 min at the hospital. He’s so perfect and I feel so blessed!
