This man Josh was a previous friend of my husband. Josh has created much drama and has said many hurtful things to and about my husband. My husband stopped interacting with Josh 2 years ago. 
It recently came to my attention that Josh is spreading rumors that I am having an affair with one of his friend who I went to high school with but I haven’t seen since then. 
The rumors are completely fabricated and insane. 
I messaged the person the to inform them, but I don’t think they are active on facebook. I’m starting to think I should message his wife and let her know that her husbands close friend is creating hurtful rumors about married people. 
What would you do?

I'd tell your partner that they're completely false and forget about it. If you start messaging others you're just creating more drama.
As long as you and you're husband are okay then it's fine. If you message her it could just cause her to kick off at you and actually believe roumers

Just ignore them, they are making themselves look stupid. People who actually know you will set them straight and people who don’t won’t care.  I’ve had rumors about me too as a wife. Nothing to do but be the bigger person.
