To the pregnant girl with Tooth Pain Post looking for advice
I just sat here typing my life away only to realize you’d deleted the post. So if you happen to see this, please read hun! I’m sorry you’re in pain.
I’m not a dentist I am a Registered Dental Hygienist, RDH
My license doesn’t permit me to diagnose decay although I can take x rays and I know exactly what decay looks like lol
Just seeing photos your tooth appears cracked/missing on the distal ( back corner) this would cause food to be impacted into the tooth causing rapid decay and pain. I wouldnt Be surprised to hear that it’s also severely infected requiring antibiotics and treatment (extraction) immediately.
The piece of gum tissue you’re referring to that sits on the tooth is called an operculum. It indeed CAN cause pain and they’re often removed because they affect your ability to brush and floss properly, and can cause inflamed swollen gums which is what you have there. Now In your case it looks that the infected tooth is the main issue here.
Around the tooth looks like you either haven’t brushed yet, or you are in need of a dental cleaning, the white stuff could be plaque possibly calculus which has to be removed by a Hygienist.
Please don’t think this can’t get worse. Many complications can arise from having an infected broken tooth that can cause serious issues sometimes even death. My best advice without actually seeing your tooth or taking an x Ray is to get it extracted!
