Born on his due date!

Ka

I’ve been doing everything but resting and I can barely keep my eyes open but I also CANNOT sleep without telling you all my story! So it all started on the 17th, I was due on 1/19/19 and was scheduled to be induced on the 26th. Due to my severe anxiety and insomnia I contacted my OB on the 11th about moving my induction up a bit, just so I’d be assured that my baby would get here safe and soundly. She never got back to me about it so I assumed the answer was no. Back to the 17th, so I get a voicemail from my ob office and when I call back they said “we can get you in for tomorrow!!” I’m looking at the phone and my boyfriend like “TOMORROW??” So we get our time, 7:30 AM on 1/18/19. They tell me it won’t be until Sunday or Monday that he arrives. I’m like okay cool. They take me in, hook me up to an IV and discuss putting a foley balloon in. I didn’t love the idea but they decided not to in the end (thank god). They started me on pitocin around 9AM and upped the dosage every half hour.

I came in 50%, 2, -3 and after pitocin for an hour I was only 75%,3,-3. They decided to break my waters which wouldn’t have been so bad if the nurse wasn’t unnecessarily rough 😒. After that things began moving quickly and I still had not requested any pain relief. My partner and I breathed through the contractions, while I was bouncing on a ball he would be rubbing my back. Idk if it was just me but if anyone spoke during a contraction the laboring/pain seemed worse and I’d get PISSED. I wanted to go natural but my contractions got so bad, with no breathing room between, that they made me extremely shaky which is an indicator that I’ll probably have a seizure, my body couldn’t handle it so when i was checked at 7p, I asked for an epidural. So around 9pm my mother went home as I wasn’t expected to give birth until the next afternoon since I had only progressed to a 5 since the afternoon. They checked again at 10:15p and I was a 6. I fell asleep until the nurses came me trying to turn me and saying that baby’s heart rate was decreasing with each contraction. After figuring that out I began having a strong sensation to poo/intense contractions that I could feel through the epidural. I had my bloody show and when they checked me again at 11p I was a 9.5🤯. I cried and cried through each contraction because they wouldn’t let me push and finally after 45 minutes of pushing, at 1:26 AM on 1/19/19 my beautiful baby boy Ashton was here. Weighing 8lbs 10oz; 21 in. I’m soooo in love with him and am enjoying every sleepless moment 🥰
