What do the doctors usually test for at 16 weeks pregnant?

I’m going in for blood work tomorrow, but I’m wondering what for.

Just ask. Usually is for anemia. So they do the basic labs. Blood counts and check a metabolic panel (sodium, potassium, and all that fun stuff). Just a check up. They may also be doing a test for downs or other genetic (or not) problems with the baby. I refused to have this done because it’s not a definitive test and the outcome wouldn’t change my pregnancy. So if that’s something you dont want-make sure you speak up. I told my doctor no, signed a refusal form, and he threw a fit and then still ordered it. Thankfully I caught it at the lab before I let them draw my blood. For this and many other reasons, he is no longer my doctor.  🤷🏼‍♀️
But anyways haha just ask before they draw your blood. You have a right to know what they are doing and also a right to always say no.
