Too many perfectly healthy babies in foster caste to put my own selfish desires ahead of the lifelong suffering of a baby with a health issue. Not to mention the health insurance fiasco.

No, you never know if they won’t get it. There’s bipolar in my family and although I didn’t get it, one of my siblings did. There’s also cancer on my husband’s side, his 2 cousins died in their early twenties. No one is genetically pure. If that were the case no one would have children. Even if you or your families don’t have serious illnesses, your child could still get one. It’s in God’s hands and everyone’s life has a purpose.

It depends on the specific illness. I don’t want to have children anyway, but some illnesses may be tough, but a good quality of life is still possible. If the quality of life with the illness would be unfavorable then I probably would definitely not reproduce.

Definitely. If I was suffering with an illness I could/would pass on to my child, Id feel awful knowing I’m willingly bringing them into a world where they will suffer as well. I would never be okay with that

Depends on the illness. My best friend is debating if she wants to adopt or have her own bc autism runs about 100% in her male line, and debilitating anxiety runs 100% in everyone.

I don't want kids and even so I used to get depressed over not wanting to pass on anything to my hypothetical children and feel immense guilt over the idea of procreating.
