When you have toddler, do you send them to daycare when baby #2 arrives

My daughter will be three when our new baby gets here and I plan on sending her to the sitter at least 2-3 days a week to keep her in the same routine. I’m afraid if she spends 8 weeks home with me that she will have a hard time going back once I go back to work.

Both my husband and I work so both of my children attend daycare. I sent my oldest to school when her sister was born because I needed time to rest during the day, nurse uninterrupted, and bond with the new baby. I also felt like it was best for my oldest child to keep her same routine of going to school while everything was changing at home. It worked for us.

My son will be 16m when baby #2 arrives. He has attended daycare since 12w old. He loves where he goes. We are lucky that between myself and my mil he is picked up between 2-2:30 each day. I plan to send him while I’m on maternity leave. I plan to be the one who takes him each morning as well. I don’t think he’ll even know I’m at home during the day. This will help him keep his routine and allow me to have time to adjust to two kids, as well as give this baby the same one on one that my son was given at the start. Plus it will be over the summer and he will enjoy playing outside with his friends all morning.

My MIL will be helping daily with my 2 year old. While I am giving baby a bottle or we still switch off really. But we both will be making sure my 2 year old is still getting enough attention.. that’s what scares me. Focusing ‘to much’ on baby but I will of course love them the same.

My mom kept my son (2yrs old) when my husband and I were at the hospital but as soon as we came home she brought him home a little while later. My husband and I dont trust anyone else but my mom (she lives in the same town) to take care of our kids. When this baby is born my mom will keep our two kids and will bring them home when we get home.

My situation was different i was a stay at home mom for a while, first 2 kids are 5 and a half years apart so when i had my second my first was in school and im pregnant with my third and my youngest is now 6 years old my oldest is 11 years old both will probably be on summer break when i have this one so im going to include them in helping with the baby, like changing diapers or making a bottle singing or reading to the baby, just the simple things. Even tho you still have a toddler it maybe a good bonding experience for them and baby i wouldn't actually have a toddler help with the care of the baby but singing or even telling a story to the baby, daycare isn't needed just include your toddler in the simple things it makes them feel just as important and they have an important job being the older sibling.

My daughter was 17 months when daughter #2 was born. While I was on maternity leave she still went to daycare so it didnt ruin her routine but we did let her stay home every once in a while so she didnt get jealous.

My daughter was 2 when her sister was born. My mother in law spent the night with her at our house and then once we came home from the hospital, MIL left and both kids stayed with me while I was on maternity leave.
