Birth story (preeclampsia) (35 weeks) (warning to all ladies)
My birth story was traumatic and I am still dealing with the aftermath of it. Starting at the beginning of the pregnancy my blood pressure was always elevated every visit but me or the doctors thought nothing of it. They just kept thinking she had blood pressure issues before but didn’t know because I didn’t go to the doctor. They still didn’t put me on blood pressure pills until November when my blood pressure shot up and wouldn’t come down. I went in and out of labor and delivery 6 times to monitor blood pressure sent me home every time. I was put on high risk and was in the doctors office twice a week. Well December 13 I had a doctors visit checked protein in urine 2.9 the ratio for preeclampsia is 3.0. I said it’s so close what are y’all going to do he said nothing till they see what it does. December 14 I went to get my nails done. While getting my I noticed my feet so swollen also my legs to the point I couldn’t walk and I just felt fuzzy. I called ob they said swelling in pregnancy is normal but check your blood pressure since your history. 165/100 with meds and wouldn’t go down. They told me come in and I’m thinking okay monitor it again goes down and get sent home oh boy was I wrong. By the time I get there my blood pressure is 180/100, it took 5 pills before it would come down. Protein in urine came back over 3.0 and they told me I got myself a bed at only 34 weeks and 4 days 😣 the next day my doctor told me we wanna try to get you to 36-37 but you will be in the hospital until then. All day December 15 my blood pressure stayed stabilized until 7 o’clock. My feet and hands started sweating I started feeling uneasy again, I told the nurse check it and give me my pills I can tell it’s high. Well she decided to wait 15 more minutes. Finally checks it 200/120. I’m freaking out and the doctor comes in and says well we see what it’s going to do now your being induced. They put me on magnesium to prevent seizures and let me tell you worst stuff in history I felt dead.i was pretty much out of it the whole labor process because they had me on so much medicine. All that medicine made my babies heart rate start dropping. They woke me up from dead sleep December 17 at 5 am saying I need to start pushing. I pushed until 6:46 the hardest thing I ever had to do. Baby came out at 35 weeks on CPAP went straight to NICU. I spent a total of 7 days in the hospital and went back in two weeks later for another blood pressure spike. Spent 2 days then. Baby spent 17 days in NICU and finally came home. I just want to warn ladies take high blood pressure and preeclampsia seriously. It made what was supposed to be the best time of my life awful. I now have health anxiety with panic attacks. I think something is always wrong with me. I’m on 3 different blood pressure pills and it’s still not stabilized. Baby is perfect though and he makes it all better.
