Hi ladies. We just had our 20 week scan today and everything looked good accept the Tech did see a bright area in the bowel which is called echogenic bowel. They said it’s probably a normal variant but want us to see the internal fetal medicine specialist for a second opinion.

I’m of course, freaking out. I looked it up and it’s a soft marker for downs but we had Counsyl done and showed no increased risk of any genetic abnormalities. Like less than .1%.

Did anyone else have a soft marker like this after genetic testing and have everything be fine? I thought we were out of the woods and this is so nerve wracking.

The doctor that we saw seemed very nonchalant about the whole thing which makes me worry even more.
