Not all ob's approve of it, due to it being elective and a higher frequency ultrasound, however it's ultimately your choice. You do not have to talk to your ob about it at all if you don't wish. I had one with my first because I was unsure the gender on the 2D at my office was accurate. It was a cool experience, but it wasn't that amazing to make me really wanna go out and do it with my second.
