How old was your LO when they received their first dose of antibiotics?

My LO (11wks) is congested, sneezing, and coughing. I’m pretty sure it’s a cold, which would not need antibiotics. However, my pediatrician seems to be happy go lucky to put my eldest on antibiotics so I’m afraid she’ll do the same for the baby. If they aren’t absolutely necessary, I don’t want either of my kids on them!! I will say they always take blood before putting them on the antibiotic. So, if LO blood shows he needs them I was just wondering when you mommas first had to give your precious babies antibiotics??

My first got antibiotics at around 6 months, for continuous ear infections....
Second baby, got antibiotics when he was born, we both had fevers of over 101 due to me obtaining a uterine lining infection (from the doc breaking my water and constantly checking my cervix...bacteria entered and baby pooping while inside didnt help either)  needless to say I started taking probiotics so that he had some good bacteria back in him after 48hrs of antibiotics:/ 
I hope ur doc doesnt give baby any, and just let the baby ride it out...If there is no high fever, that some tylenol can handle antibiotics shouldn't be necessary. Good luck mama!

My LO is now the same and almost 11 weeks. She didn’t get any antibiotics as it seems like a viral infection and for now were only using nose drops. Fingers crossed our LO’s don’t need antibiotics this soon 🙈

My LO got antibiotics three hours after she was born because of us both having fevers, and a 5 day labour. She started getting a cold when she was 6 weeks and we just rode it out without antibiotics. Hope your little one gets better soon!

My baby was on antibiotics at 2 weeks because she was in the hospital for meningitis while waiting on the results of viral or bacterial.

Mine is 11 weeks old also and very congested, coughing and sneezing. I’ve been using the nasal sucker and saline nasal spray/drops and just letting her sleep. She’s not running a fever. At this age, I still don’t want her put on antibiotics unless it’s absolutely necessary. I’m also very congested and using saline nasal spray and taking Sudafed once a day (BF so still limited to what I can take). We also live where Hurricane Michael came through in October so our city environment is still very nasty at this point. A lot of trash lying around, people’s homes still destroyed or in pieces, lots of household items on the sides of the roads with mold and mildew. I work in the medical field so we’re seeing a lot of Respiratory stuff come in and it’s flu season. I’m just keeping a close eye on my LO and hope she gets better before having to go to the doctor. 🙏🏻🤞🏻
