Grief and Sex: Wait to initiate lovemaking with partner?

Question

My husband recently lost his mother. I wanted to know what your experience with Grief and Sex. I don't think my partner will be ready to have sex for a couple of months. I don't want to be selfish and even ask.

I’m so sorry for his loss. 😔 my mother in law passed away January 6th. Definitely something terrible. As the other person said everyone deals with grief in their own way. Just be there for him. Know when to give him a little privacy. And cry with him. There were times we cried together. And there were times I could tell he was trying to be strong so I’d go to the other room for 5-10 mins and come back. I kinda lingered in the background sometimes. And sometimes I was holding him. It’s very tricky. Just read his body language as much as you can. Be patient with him. For my husband definitely not the first day second day I got my my period and we don’t do anything while I’m on my period. He seemed ready about 2 days after but he had to wait a couple more for my periods finish... everyone deals with grief their own way though.

Sometimes you can tell when it’s time with the way he talks or acts.
As you continue to give him that intimate space, still stay close in love for other things. I’m sure sex is far from his mind at the moment. But it seems that if he’s ready he will initiate it & you will be open & ready for him. 
Grief is a tricky thing, it’s different for everyone. 
When I had my losses it took me a while to want my husband again, but he waited for me & I appreciated that space. It says I love you louder than any other action. Being patient & understanding is not an easy thing in a marriage, but it’s possible.

That’s a tough one because depending on how he is, he might feel pushed away & unloved maybe? Idk just a random thought that came to mind. Maybe it would be worth a lot to him if you had an open convo about it
