‘We don’t use the “N” word in our home.’
I was watching a show on Netflix called ‘Kim’s Convenience’. Its a Canadian series about a Korean family who owns a convenience store and the drama in their daily lives. The show is pretty good actually.
So I was watching this episode where a kid is thrashing the store, the store owner requests the mum to stop her child and his mum says, ‘we don’t use the “N” word in our home.’ “N” word referring to NO or YOU CANNOT or anything with a negative sound to it. So she just lets the kid mess up that person’s store.
Honestly, I was SHOCKED to see that scene. Now let me be clear. I AM NOT MOM SHAMING.
This is just a discussion. Was this the right approach?
For me, its a no. If I ever have kids they will have to know what a no means. They need to know what consent is (not just sexually but in every manner). If you don’t teach them the meaning of no, they’ll never know what’s right or what is wrong.
What are your thoughts on this?
Please don’t shame/attack anyone or me for posting this. I’m saying it again its not a shaming/calling out post.
