Delaying birth announcement??
Hi all!
I’m curious to see who all is immediately announcing the birth of their child and who is going to wait?
Our thought process is we would like to wait a few days to announce our son’s birth (his name is also not public to anyone but us, the parents) because we’d like to have a couple days to recover from giving birth and bond with our son before we get bombarded with texts and calls from friends and distant relatives.
We would share with our immediate family (siblings/parents) but they don’t live in the same state so pictures would be shared with them. If we do this, we’d also have to ask both sides of the family to wait to share our son’s birth. I’m in general a private person and I just want to be able to enjoy those first few days as first time parents and take the appropriate time to recover and bond.
Anyone else do something like this?? What was your experience? My side of the family is super mellow and won’t care (my brother and his wife don’t even allow photos of their kids on social media so I know they’re supportive) and my in-laws will likely have a fit but they usually do when things are not exactly how they want it (specifically my MIL) BUT it’s our baby so I don’t care about that.
