Expandable style

Walkthrough style. 
We have an expandable one right now but I feel like with a baby in hand it would be easier to have a walkthrough one. We use it to keep our dogs out of certain areas right now and will probably keep dogs out of baby’s room for the most part. No stairs in our place.

Get the walkthrough, yes they are a little more expensive but so much easier and you'll be using it for a long time.

I prefer retractable. There are cheaper versions that fold instead of retract but after having 6 kids this was hands down the best gate!

I wish we had gotten a walkthrough. We've had two expandable baby gates and I hate them. We're just about to the stage where we won't need them anymore, thankfully.
