Terrible twos lol?

My 21/2 year old is starting to hit and throw anything and everything in reach when he gets mad or doesn’t get his way sometimes he will even yell! What worked for you mamas to correct this behavior! Iv tried time out and a stern voice but it’s not really working. Any way you guys did time out or  certain words you use. Any thing helps thank you!

I go for the “ignore it” method (which admittedly works better at home than it does in public). But basically when my toddler starts losing it—she used to scream at the top of her lungs when she didn’t get what she wanted—I would disengage. Keep a blank face, look the other way, get busy with something else, etc. The instant the behavior stopped, I re-engaged so that I was reinforcing the not-screaming behavior (rather reacting to—and thereby reinforcing—negative behavior). After a couple of days, she stopped screaming. If my daughter is just crying and whining, I try to reflect her emotions back to her—“I can see that you’re really upset right now” or “I know you’re angry that momma wouldn’t let you have another snack” etc—and just try to talk her through her feelings a bit, but when it came to the screaming, I didn’t want to reinforce the behavior. I don’t know if you’ll be able to use that method when it comes to hitting, because that can be a matter of safety, but it would definitely work with the yelling.

I tell him no throwing and if he continue he gets a timeout. He did this for two weeks and finally realized I wasn’t going to let up.

I just read a bunch of toddler discipline books, all over the spectrum. The one that seemed most practical, loving, and middle-of-the-road is called For the Love of Discipline by Sara Wallace. It’s short, sweet, to the point, and easy to read and apply. Highly recommend.
If you want more of the neuroscience behind toddlers and their development, No-Drama Discipline by Daniel Siegel is excellent. 
Both explain why yelling, ignoring, time-outs, or emotional manipulation might not work long-term. And have practical application that you can use the next day. 
Lastly, the book I Love You Rituals has been hugely helpful. It’s full of a bunch of short games, songs, and activities that you can do with your toddler to really connect and make sure they feel loved. This actually makes discipline a lot less of an issue. Not that you aren’t making your kids feel loved, but a small, super focused connection with them once or twice a day goes a long way!

We just got into that awful phase a couple a weeks ago so no need to say we're probably going to have terrible 3's as well.
He started yelling in a very hateful deep voice and spitting at us. We just throw him in time out until he calms down. It's slowly gotten better. No more hitting or yelling but still the occasional spitting at us out of spit.
Just try to be patient but firm, sometimes just giving them some love works as well.

Ugh we just got out of that awful phase. At first I tried timeouts alone and she would lose her mind!! So after a bunch of reading online I found staying in the area and tidy up or whatever you can find to do until she calms down (without speaking to her) worked the best. When she was calm enough to talk I'd ask what she needed from me and I ALWAYS remind her to use words and not to yell etc. Before getting out of the vehicle to go in a store I explain the behavior I expect to see in the store and get her to repeat no yelling or crying. Every kid is different but i try to remind myself no matter how frustrating it gets, that I'm the role model. So when i was upset and raised my voice in the past she was only copying my behavior. Ohhh the joys of having a toddler eh 😜

I’m looking for some advice as well my 2 1/2 year old is hitting and throwing. Thankfully it’s mostly at home l, but we do get the tantrums out in public of him just yelling nooo! At the top of his lungs. Oh and he has now begun to completely ignore us, we will call his name 10 times and not once will he listen. This just started about two weeks ago tho so kids go threw a lot of phased best things is just ignoring them and/ or distracting them with something else.
